AutoCount MCP

Ask Your AutoCount Accounts a Question.
Get a Straight Answer.

AutoCount MCP connects your on-premise AutoCount Accounting to AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT — so anyone on your team can ask “who owes us money?” and get real numbers from your live company file.

No exports. No waiting for someone to run a report. Just ask — or tell it what to do, like raising an invoice or updating a record.

The plain-English version

What is AutoCount MCP?

Your accounting file, finally on speaking terms with AI.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open standard — think of it as a common plug — that lets an AI assistant talk to business software safely.

Here’s the simple version. Normally, if you want to know which customers are overdue, someone has to open AutoCount, run an ageing report, export it, and read it. AutoCount MCP skips all of that. You type the question into Claude or ChatGPT, and the assistant asks AutoCount directly.

The important part is how it asks

We don’t hand the AI your database. We give it a small, fixed set of doors it’s allowed to open — check receivables, look up a customer, pull a sales summary, raise an invoice if you’ve allowed it. Nothing else.

It’s like giving a new colleague a keycard that only works on three rooms, instead of the master key to the building.

The answer comes back as actual figures from your file. Not a guess. Not a summary of a summary.

Six things to start with

What You Can Do With AutoCount MCP

Real questions and real tasks, in the words your team already uses.

Receivables & Ageing

Who owes us money right now, and who’s more than 60 days late?

A list of outstanding customers with amounts and ageing buckets, straight from your live ledger. Follow up with “show me the invoices for that first one” and it drills in.

Sales Insight

How did August compare to July, and who were my top 10 customers?

Monthly sales summaries, customer rankings, movement between periods. Good for the Monday morning meeting you’d otherwise spend building a report for.

Stock & Pricing

How many of this item do we have left, and what did we last sell it at?

Current stock levels, last selling price, price history by customer. Useful when a salesperson is on the phone and needs an answer now.

General Ledger

Show me what went through this account last quarter.

GL transactions for any account and any period, so your accountant can check something without stopping work in AutoCount.

Bank Reconciliation

What’s still unreconciled in the Maybank account?

Outstanding items pulled together in one view, then worked through against your statement.

Create & Update Records

Raise an invoice for Syarikat ABC — same items as last month.

Create, edit and cancel transactions — invoices, orders, journal entries — straight from the chat. It also finds existing records, even when nobody remembers the invoice number. Writing only works when it’s switched on for your account.

These are examples, not a fixed menu. Because MCP is a live connection, your team can ask follow-up questions the same way they’d ask a colleague.

How it works

How a Question Becomes an Answer

Four steps, and only one of them is yours.

Every question maps to a specific, approved request. That’s what keeps the answer trustworthy — and it’s the difference between an assistant that looks things up and one that improvises.

1

You ask, in plain language.

Type it into Claude or ChatGPT the way you’d say it out loud.

2

The assistant picks the right tool.

Each question maps to a specific, approved AutoCount request — not a free-for-all database search.

3

AutoCount runs the request on your live file.

Your real data, as it stands right now — read, or updated if you’ve allowed it.

4

The answer comes back as data.

Actual figures and records, so you can trust the number and act on it.

Safety by design

Built for People Who Can’t Afford a Wrong Number

Accounting data isn’t the place for an AI to be creative. So we set it up to be boring, on purpose.

Reads by default, writes by choice

Out of the box, the connection reads. Creating, editing, cancelling and reconciling transactions is a separate capability you switch on deliberately — and you can switch it off again for any account.

No guessing codes

Customer codes, item codes, account codes get looked up properly, never inferred from a name that sounds close. A wrong code is a wrong answer, and a wrong answer is worse than no answer.

Fixed dates, fixed meaning

Every date is handled in one unambiguous format, so “last month” means the same thing to the AI as it does to you.

Defined tools, not open access

The assistant can only call the specific requests we’ve set up. Common questions get their own dedicated tool, so the answer comes back in one step, not a chain of guesses. It never gets a general connection to your database, and each connection serves one company file.

You decide who can ask

Only the people you set up get a connection. We agree with you who has access — and to which company file — before anything goes live.

Your data stays where it lives

AutoCount MCP reads from your AutoCount company file, on your own server, only when someone asks a question. We don’t copy your accounts into a separate database. The answer you asked for — say, an ageing list — goes to your AI assistant so it can show it to you. Nothing else leaves your AutoCount.

Who it’s for

Who Should Use AutoCount MCP?

Business owners

Who want the number now, not after someone runs a report.

Finance & account teams

Buried in “can you quickly check…” requests all day.

Sales teams

Who need stock levels and last selling price while the customer is still on the line — and can raise the order right there.

On-premise AutoCount users

Who’ve been wondering what AI is actually good for in their business.

Straight talk: AutoCount MCP needs a supported version of AutoCount. If yours is older, we’ll tell you honestly what it takes to get there — rather than sell you a project that won’t work.

Requirements

What You Need to Get Started

Short list, and we’ll check all of it with you before quoting anything.

On-premise AutoCount Accounting

Installed on your own PC or office server, on a supported version of AutoCount Accounting. We’ll check yours before quoting anything.

API connection set up

We install and configure the connection on your AutoCount server. Because answers come live from your file, that machine needs to be switched on and online when your team asks.

An MCP-capable AI assistant

Claude or ChatGPT on a plan that supports connectors. The AI subscription is yours, billed by the provider — we supply the connector, not the AI plan.

A shortlist of questions

Tell us the five things your team asks most. We configure around those first.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The connection is read-only by default and limited to a fixed set of approved requests. The AI never gets direct access to your database, and we agree with you who has access before go-live. Only the specific answer you asked for is passed to your AI assistant, under that provider’s own data terms. Writing back to AutoCount stays switched off unless you specifically ask for it.

On-premise AutoCount Accounting — the version installed on your own PC or server — on a supported version. We’ll check your version during the free session and tell you straight if you need to upgrade first.

Any assistant that supports MCP. In practice that’s Claude and ChatGPT for most of our clients.

No. Your team types questions in normal English. We handle the setup, the permissions, and the testing.

It returns data from your file rather than writing its own answer, and codes are looked up rather than guessed. That said, always sanity-check anything you’re about to act on — the same way you would a report from a new staff member. The same goes for changes: codes are looked up, not guessed, so an invoice goes to the right customer and item.

Yes. AutoCount MCP can create, edit and cancel transactions — invoices, orders, journal entries and bank reconciliation — once write access is switched on. It’s off by default, and you decide which accounts get it. Most clients start read-only, then switch writing on once they trust the answers.

It depends on where you’re starting from. Already an AutoCount customer? You can add AutoCount MCP on its own once you’re on a supported version — with a discount if you hold a support contract, and a Q4 early-bird running now. New to iDynamics? AutoCount MCP comes as part of a wider AutoCount setup. Either way, book a free AI Readiness Session and we’ll give you a firm quote, not a number that changes later. Your Claude or ChatGPT subscription is separate, billed by the AI provider.

Start small

Start With One Question

You don’t need an AI strategy to try this. Pick the one question your team asks most — “who owes us money”, usually — and let us wire that up first.

Book a free AI Readiness Session. We’ll look at your AutoCount setup, tell you what’s possible today, and be upfront about what isn’t.
